King & Byrne is an exciting acoustic duo based in Liverpool. Performing innovative vocal and instrumental arrangements of popular modern day classics plus a sprinkling of original songs, their performances exhibit a unique flair making them truly exciting to watch.
Derek is an accomplished singer and songwriter who can effortlessly engage with an audience, he has many years’ experience of performing in small and large venues, has released two critically acclaimed albums and is currently working on a third. His voice, both powerful and soulful conveys the emotion in a song, drawing the audience in, whilst Derek’s guitar accompaniments are expertly crafted and executed.
Jenny has been performing for many years as a solo Spanish guitarist renowned for her skill and innovative style, seamlessly fusing elements of Flamenco with the sweet romantic tones of the classical guitar. Jenny graduated from Music College in 1983 and has since studied with some of the world’s most renowned guitarists. She has the ability to “wow” her audiences with arrangements of well known film music and popular songs with a Spanish/Flamenco feel, displaying moments of sheer virtuosity. Together they create beautiful heartfelt renditions of songs we all love to hear, interspersed with lively instrumentals that can see people leave their seats and dance! They perform music from the Beatles to a Bach Toccata morphing into a lively Spanish Malaguena, Abba, John Legend, Gipsy Kings, or old Latin favourites such as Besame Mucho and even Mariachi. Be it the Killers, Joni Mitchell, or a light hearted Flamenco version of Tom Jones’ Delilah, King & Byrne has something for everyone. The fusion of their different styles has created a whole that creates a sound unique to them that marries the warmth of Derek’s voice with the intricate and often astounding technical fireworks of Jenny’s Spanish guitar. Performances can be tailored to the clients’ requirements. Bespoke arrangements (with notice) can be produced or even a piece of original music unique to a person or an event.
